East Grand Rapids Fine Art Photographer

You are probably wondering, what is Fine Art Photography? How is it different than a normal portrait session? If so, you have come to the right blog post, and the right photographer in the Grand Rapids area. I absolutely love offering Fine Art Photography to my clients. You will find the answer to your question below!

Fine art photography is a style of photography that is characterized by its artistic and creative approach. It is often used to create images that are meant to be displayed as works of art, rather than simply as documentation of a subject, although it does a great job at that too! Fine art photography is often associated with black and white images, but it can also include color photography. I don’t do too many black and white images, but I LOVE creating gorgeous colors in my Fine Art Photography portraits for my clients.

One of the key features of fine art photography is its emphasis on composition and visual impact. Fine art photographers often use a variety of techniques to create images that are visually striking and aesthetically pleasing. This can include the use of unusual angles, creative lighting, unique perspectives, and editing techniques. One of my favorite technique to use on Fine Art portraits, is oil painting. Since Fine Art is more of a piece of art than a regular portrait, why not make it look like a piece of art work by making it look like an oil painting!

Another important aspect of fine art photography is its focus on emotion and mood. Fine art photographers often use their images to convey a particular feeling or emotion, whether it's joy, sadness, or contemplation. This can be achieved through the use of color, lighting, and composition. I rarely have a fine art photo where a subject is looking directly into the camera.

Fine art photography is also known for its attention to detail. Fine art photographers often spend a great deal of time and effort on each image, carefully selecting the subject, location, and lighting to create a visually stunning and emotionally impactful image. Each fine art portrait is carefully planned. I love using a lot of florals and greenery in my Newborn subjects and Maternity subjects. Most of my fine art work is shot at the studio located in Cedar Springs.

In terms of subject matter, fine art photography can cover a wide range of topics, from landscapes and nature to portraits and still life. The key is to create images that are visually striking and emotionally impactful, regardless of the subject matter. I only work with portraits, but I love incorporating nature into each fine art “painting”

Overall, fine art photography is a style of photography that is characterized by its artistic and creative approach, its emphasis on composition and visual impact, its focus on emotion and mood, and its attention to detail. It is a style of photography that is often used to create images that are meant to be displayed as works of art, rather than simply as documentation of a subject.
